Curious. Would it change if you were to play the same hole 6 times? Good stuff! 😉
How would you do with 6 balls on a Par 3?
Now go back and do that left-handed😬
beautiful home in the background. Btw that was very good. Par 3s are stressful especially 160-190 range
I think this is more of a test of how well you're swinging on any given day vs. testing the difficulty of a hole or not. Any hole on any course can be made easy or difficult if you're hitting your marks all day vs. sending them wildly left and right all day long. Tough to judge the difficulty of a hole just by a single player hitting 6 consecutive shots. Especially when that player is capable of making tiny adjustments based on the previous shot. This little demo could be applied to anything. Take 6 balls off the tee with driver. If you slice all 6 into the trees, is it a tough fairway to hit? Or are you swinging like garbage?
I do this a lot. Always play with 3 balls if i practice alone. 1 ball what i normal would do in a match 1 defence/smart play and 1 full attack. Fun way of practice;)
That was impressive Andy. Par there's are the hardest holes on the coarse. You really have to get your tee shot within about 8ft to realistically get a birdie. I would have probably double bogeyed a few of those. maybe one birdie and a par or two.
I like it. Maybe try it from 150 and in. That looks like fun
You made them look easy! I'm sure it would be a lot harder that that for most of us mere mortals!
Love this idea! On par threes I score an average (On my swing-U app) of 3.7. with par 4 being 4.9 and and par 5 being 5.5
so I apparently find par fours slightly more difficult?
Par 3’s are the hardest holes on any course as there is no margin for error for most golfers, ie more likely not to get a shot as par 3’s are deemed the easier holes.
To answer the question, Andy, for me as a 28 handicapper, no. I play on a small par 3 course as my practice course. We have one hole, our 7th which is 166 yards, so very similar to your hole, today Except ours is sloped left to right. I can play it 3 ways. If I play my 3 Wood it skips off of the green to the right and I have chip back and maybe 2 putts. My best play is to play it as a lay up to front of green, chip closer to the pin for a possible par. I am not a big hitter at my age. The only ones I find easy are the little par 3s. Something like 107 to a 110 yards. Play and 8 Iron and hopefully 2 putt. I am trying for 20 Handicap this year, so my golfing psychology is different to yours as a scratch player. I say to my self, that i need to get down in 4.on a par 3. Thanks for this one.
Sometimes, when the course isn’t crowded, we play a game that I made up. I call it Hillbilly Scramble. Basically, you hit 2 balls off the tee, then go to your best shot. Then, hit 2 balls from there, and go to your best shot. You get the picture…. We even do it on chips, and putts, until you hole out. It’s like a 2-man scramble, and your partner is yourself. It’s soooo fun. I would LOVE to see you guys do it in a match one day.
Shot count. 1st ball into the right side bunker. 2nd miss hit short 40yrds to green still. 3rd over cook a shot and go left way left. 4th hits the green and rolls to the fringe. 5th hit a house oops. 6th all the gods alighted and the ball goes strait up with a nice right to left a soft lovely landing. Nice GIR. Then get close to par twice. That one that should be an easy birdie. NOPE three putt. Yes let’s do it again. Living thru you Carter. Love it.
Andy I would have been happy just to hit the green with three of those shots. What a great idea for a bit of practice 👍🏻🇦🇺
Whenever I bet on a major I look at par 3 scoring for 2 previous tournaments for my player. I think it's the best ball striking metric to see if someone is in form and ready to win. Even if their overall scoring average isn't great if they're puring their irons their game is on track.
Great shots by the way definitely a tough pin with that wind.
Did you change to a new putter? Looks like a Scotty Cameron Futura 5S! Love that putter!
Thanks Andy. I would have liked a camera on the green to see the tee shots coming in.
Looking forward to playing that course when I go over in August 👍👍👍
Clever idea. I like it.
Great idea for a video. Would work really well on a par 3 academy course to practice.
what a fantastic exercise gonna try this one for sure……. thanks
Great test thanks
Just out of curiosity….. Why didn't you try a controlled fade with a 7 iron, against the wind?
If I play the par threes well I always have a good round, but I do find them the hardest holes on the course
Yank!!! Andy I’ll give you putting tips if you teach me everything else! 😂
Great video Andy.
Par 3 lol .there are 6 par 3 on the course I play. if I play them well I can shoot 75-76. if like most days I don't play them well I shoot 84-86 . I will definitely be trying this .
Keep up the good work
What about showing the same concept. 6 balls off the tee, but with different clubs. Would be interested to see how you control a longer club for a shorter short, stops all the inconsistencies of a full swing sometimes.
