The Par 71 (72 for ladies), Christy O’Connor Jnr designed Gort Golf Club is nestled at the doorstep of the Burren, the World famous geopark in north Clare.
It’s also located within of Lough Coole & Coole Park which was the home of Lady Gregory & is now owned by the state.
Gort Golf Club is a very interesting parkland course with plenty of hills & more dogleg holes than your average 18.
The Par 4, 1st hole is a taste of what’s to come with a real confidence test as the hole features a nearly 90 degree right to left dogleg with a sweeping drop then rise to face too.
Ball position is very important & while there may be a few routes you can take on some holes, you could easily find yourself playing with a links type shot with the ball above or below your feet.

Green fees aren’t bank breakers either. Peak green fees are €30 weekday & €35 weekend.
Some good deals are available for societies also.
