Head Director of Nike Junior Golf Camps, Jeff Ritter, gives us a drill to help.

The secret to a good tee shot is making sure you are hitting up on the ball at contact. So here is a little tip to make sure you can pull that off. All I want you to do is take a box from a sleeve of golf balls and put it a foot ahead of the ball you are going to hit, and tee your ball up high.

Take your setup, and go ahead and take some rehearsal swings. Try to get your club head to go from low to high. Tracking close to the ground and ascending away from the ball and up over that box. Once you get a feel for it, make a swing and see how you do. If you miss the box, it means your swing is on track, if you hit the box it simply means you got some work to do. A simple exercise that provides immediate feedback for developing your game.
