An American professional golfer, Nelly Korda is famous for being the daughter of retired Czech professional tennis players Petr Korda & Regina Rajchrtova. She is also the sister of an American professional golfer Jessica Korda, who plays on the LPGA Tour, and an American professional tennis player Sebastian Korda. Her father Petr won the 1998 Australian Open singles in tennis. She and her sister Jessica Korda completed the third pair of sisters to win in LPGA history, joining the Jutanugarn sister, Moriya Jutanugarn and Ariya Jutanugarn, along with Charlotta and Annika Sorenstam. She is best recognized for winning the Gold medal at the women’s individual golf event at the 2020 Summer Olympic on 7 August 2021, became the second woman from the U.S. to win the Gold and the first since Margaret Ives Abbott in the 1900 Olympic Games. She secured a one-shot victory on the final day of the women’s golf competition. Mone Inami of Japan and Lydia Ko fo New Zealand tied for second with Inami taking the silver medal in a sudden-death playoff where Inami shot a final round 65. On 5 August Thursday in round 2, she stood on the 18th tee at-11 for her round. A bridle on the 18th would have been a round of 59 but she double-bogeyed the hole for a 62.
Nelly Korda began her professional career in 2016 on the Symetra Tour where she won her first Professional event at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge with shooting rounds 68-67-69-66 for a stroke victory over Wichanee Meechai. She won her first LPGA Tour title at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship on 28 October 2018 and also won the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in 2019. She was a part of the CME Group Tour Championships and solo 3rd at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. She won the Lacoste Ladies Open de France by eight shots and defended her title at the Taiwan Swinging Sports LPGA. After she represented at the Australian Open with win 4th top-5 finish in her most recent 5 LPGA starts, she broke into the top 10 for the first time on 18 February 2019 release of the Women’s World Golf Ranking and ranked the 2nd highest American in the world. She became the first two time winner on the LPGA during the 2021 season where she won the Meijer LPGA Classic (On 20 June 2021) and Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club (On 28 February 2021) as well as she won her first major at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club on 27 June with the win 3 strokes over Lizette Salas, became the number one player in the world.
As an Amateur career, Nelly Korda was a member of the 2015 US Junior Solheim Cup where she won the 2015 Harter Hall Invitational, the 2015 PING Invitational, & the 2015 AJGA Rolex Junior All-American. She was also part of the 2013 US Women’s Open.
