Marty Farris, owner of Mid-America Retrieval Golf Ball Company, and his crew chief Tony Pollard spent the day Old Hawthorne pulling golf balls from the ponds along the course. Farris drags the bottom of the pond with a titanium roller attached with a cable between two tractors. They found about 3,000 balls in over 5 hours. Not the best of days for the team that retrieves about a million balls a year.
