Final round, 2012 New Zealand Disc Golf Matchplay Champs @ Bella Rakha [Part 1 of 2]

Held on the 8th and 9th of December, at Simon Feasey’s stunning private Disc Golf course, Bella Rakha, at the foot of the Waitakere Ranges just outside Auckland. What a fantastic course Simon has built, with challenges aplenty, and many truly spectacular holes. Apologies for the fuzzy zoom shots, the digital zoom was enabled on my Panasonic Lumix TZ30, which I am still learning about.

The very elegant “wine glass” basket design is a development of the PDGA basket, and appears throughout the course. It is much more sympathetic for permanent courses, I think.

The top 16 men in descending order were: Damian Peters, Simon Feasey (M), Blair Joines (M), Brad Muir, David Keene, Pete Boyle (GM), Jackson Sullivan, Russel King, Bob Gentil (GM), Nigel Hailstone (M), Lawton Williams, Brett Hailstone (GM), Hemi Te Awhitu, Juan Unda (M), Des Cooper (GM), and Michael Proctor (GM).

The top 4 ladies were: Fiona “Ming” Menzies (WGM), Gemma Sullivan, Jenny Joynt (WGM), and Lisa Te Awhitu.
