We sent our cameras to Atlantic Beach, Florida, just outside Jacksonville, to meet Mel at her new home course and discover why the club’s open and welcoming nature played a key role in her choosing it.
Mel also discussed how she went from a passionate soccer player to a talented young golfer growing up in the U.K., who would eventually become a LPGA champion.
As part of the LGBTQ+ community, Mel has seen the damage discrimination causes and has made it a priority in her life to not allow anyone to feel less than worthy for being who they are. Her previous experiences on golf courses paint an eye-opening picture of the negativity still around in the game today.
