So let me start off by saying that on my days off, I purposely choose really early tee times so that I minimize any conflict with groups or any solo golfers on the course. Whenever I see anyone approaching me from behind, I always finish out my hole and the let the individual(s) play through me on the proceeding hole. On this outing, after paying my green fees, nobody was playing yet nor was anyone around me so I went ahead and tee’d my first shot. Right as I got done hitting my first tee shot, I heard foot steps and some older gentleman was walking up so I essentially told him “Hey, I’ll let you play through if I’m slowing you down after this hole.” Then the older guy saw my camera/tripod and seemed to get triggered and replied “I think I’m just going to play through you now” and was continuing to give me a little grief until he looked back up at me and saw that I wasn’t amused with his rudeness (I wish that I’d kept my camera rolling). After his shot he immediately started walking away, before almost playing my ball that was middle fairway (he sliced his slightly right of fairway). It’s ALWAYS the older guys. Anyway, so that encounter at Hole #1 just messed with my inner golfing zen for the rest of the round. But hey, sometimes golf is all about overcoming adversity. No excuses.
