Why do I say that? I say shut up because it’s not REALLY drive for show putt for dough. EVERYONE knows that who plays off a handicap lower than 15 or so. It’s DRIVE FOR DOUGH, IRONS FOR DOUGH, SHORT GAME FOR DOUGH 33/33/33 split easily.
But when so much of the game is played inside wedge distance, NEVER be shamed into the cliché because of course the strokes gained mob don’t read into the fact that the Brodie guy specifically separates putting and the short game to make it look less consequential.
When combined, and ALL THE PROS SAY THIS, the short game inside wedge distance is the key to slashing handicap. we are NOT trying to gain strokes. We are tryingt o cut strokes through error elimination.
There’s no easier aspect of the game to improve – it’s the wedge in hand, and inside that all the way to 1 foot putts.
If you hit 280 yard drives all day and can’t get up and in the hole in less than 3 strokes inside 140 yards (or your wedge distance) then it means nothing if you start the hole with a big boomer or a little fairway finder.
It’s time to drop the nonsense and focus on the real deal.
