Have you ever had your ball just off the green and not know which type of shot you should play? You live by the old adage of putt when you can, chip when you can’t. But you can’t determine if you have a putt or a chip.
Within this video, John Hughes, PGA Master Professional of Instruction shows you how to putt in this situation while using a wedge. The “Bellied Wedge” shot is a tried and true shot that golfers have been using for decades, if not centuries. It is best used when your just off the green, between 2 and 8 feet, and you don’t have too many “big” obstacles to overcome. The shot is executed by simply gripping down with one of your wedges and using a putting stroke that hits the center or just higher of center upon the ball. This type of strike to the golf ball provides enough energy to get through the higher grass and rolling to the hole.
Come join John on the 2nd green of Falcon’s Fire Golf Club as he shows you how to “Belly Up” to your next creative short game opportunity.
