Discover The Perfect Aim and Alignment | Swing Down The Highway
⛳ The purpose of this drill is to teach players how to correctly aim at the target. This can be achieved by aligning the club head, as well as all the parts of the body towards the target.
🔑 The key to perfect aim and alignment is to visualize a long, straight highway that leads all the way to the desired target. This allows the player to focus on a specific line and visualize the correct path for the ball and their body alignment.
1️⃣ Start by imagining a long straight highway in front of you
2️⃣ Then set your club face in between the median (the two yellow lines of the highway) and take your stance in the left hand lane.
3️⃣ Make sure your feet, knee’s, hips, and shoulders should all be parallel to the target line. You can then visualize this straight line when hitting your driver, irons, or putting during the round.
4️⃣ You can further practice great alignment on the driving range using driveway markers (alignment rods) that you will see many tour players carrying in their bag for this exact reason. You will place these alignment rods parallel to each other; one to align the club face and one to align your feet.
📈 Practice this drill to visualize your target line all the way from the club face to the hole. Alignment and aim is extremely important to hitting good shots and is fundamental to all great golfers’ swings; it is almost impossible to create repeatable results with poor aim and alignment. You can practice perfect alignment by setting up two alignment rods on the driving range and setting both of your feet and club face parallel to each other.
