The ulnar nerve glide and help alleviate symptoms of ulnar nerve entrapment. With repetitive strain injuries, trauma, compression, and/or poor posture, excessive tension around the peripheral nerves can develop. Ulnar nerve entrapment is a common peripheral nerve entrapment that can occur. When the ulnar nerve is entrapped, common symptoms include pain and soreness around the medial elbow, numbness/tingling into the ring and pinky fingers, and numbness/tingling in the medial forearm. Cubital tunnel syndrome, entrapment of the ulnar nerve at the medial elbow, is sometimes misdiagnosed as “Golfer’s Elbow” which leaves the patient wondering why their Golfer’s Elbow is not improving!

Using ulnar nerve glide or ulnar nerve mobilization, you can help “free” then nerve from soft tissue nerve entrapment. By tensing the ulnar nerve at its attachment, relaxing, and then tensing the ulnar nerve roots in the neck, you can glide the nerve through the muscles and fascia along the nerve’s distribution. The ulnar nerve glide is not a traditional stretch so you won’t feel a strong muscular stretch when doing this. Instead, make sure you move in and out of the positions to creation the relative motion between ulnar nerve and musculature.
