Even the most casual golfers typically have a shot that they consider to be a go to every time they hit the course. But, being able to hit a shot that is the opposite of your go to will be a great way of shaping a better golf swing.
Considered one of the greatest golfers to ever play the sport, players who can even slightly emulate the Rory McIlroy golf swing can be on their way to drastically improving the distance and accuracy of their driver shots.
A typical Rory McIlroy golf swing sees all of the components and motions unified in complete harmony, which continues to be one the greatest sights to ever grace the PGA Tour. Rory attributes his shot shaping ability to maintaining a stable base underneath his swing.
As situations can become difficult at any time during regular play, being able to play your ball from any spot on the golf course will be crucial to achieving your ideal score and enjoying golf to the fullest extent. Me and my golf students always try to implement an alternative swing strategy that takes root when players begin to work on their shot shaping.
There may not be better golf swing examples of perfect shot shaping than those of Tiger Woods. Many of the shots that Tiger has achieved on the PGA tour often defy the limitations of physics and the equipment of the modern era.
Whether you’re a weekend warrior, social player, or just beginning to learn the sport of golf, there will be instances where you find yourself facing down hazardous conditions and unfavorable positions while on the golf course. Me and my golf students believe bouncing back like a Rory McIlroy or Tiger Woods from these less than ideal course situations and having the ability to play a variety of different shots will serve golfers better than any other strategy. There may not be better golf strategies than those that encourage golfers to work on their shot shaping religiously, and ultimately developing shots that are polar opposite to what they would consider to be their go to swing.
