The old man gets roughed up by Hoakalei Country Club #16. It’s a hard hole that normally plays into the wind. It’s harder when you hit your drive in the water.
#16 plays 376 yards from the white tees. It normally plays into the strongest and hardest wind on the course. The wind is faster on this hole because of the venturri effect of the homes and contours of the surrounding holes.
Hit it left and it’s a double at best. Hitting right to be safe makes the second shot directly into the wind from about 180 to 190. Second shot must be accurate too. Too far left and water comes into play and going right makes 3rd shot damn near impossible because of the slope of the green.
Hoakalei Country Club #16 has ruined many a round of golf.
