A true one-piece takeaway is when the club, the arms, the shoulders and torso all move together smoothly to start your golf swing. Your arms stay connected to your torso. You want to avoid letting your arms separate from your body as you take the club away.

This drill will help you feel a smooth wide takeaway.

Set-up to hit a shot, then swing the club forward towards the target.
• Stop when the club is outside your front foot.
• Then start your swing from this position in one sweeping motion.
• Swing to the top and continue to the follow-through.
• Accelerate as you swing to the finish.
• Return to start position and repeat.
• Do 8 to 10 repetitions.
