With past stops at Whistling Straits and Erin Hills, Kent Instefjord, PGA, was uniquely qualified to place golf at the forefront when he was hired as the Beloit (Wis.) Club’s General Manager. Following its purchase by billionaire businesswoman Diane Hendricks in 2014, the club constructed a 24,000-sq. ft. clubhouse with a resort-style pool complex and, shortly thereafter, introduced the Ironworks Golf Academy and opened the Ironworks Golf Lab. Other efforts to “blow away” the traditional “stuffy” notion of a private club, including live contemporary music and accepting cash and credit cards, have led to a surge in membership, which had dropped to under 200, to now just over 700, and still climbing.
