Excessive curvature in a player’s lower back creates a situation where the S Posture places a huge amount of stress and pressure on lower back muscles which also forces abdominal muscle groups to relax. Deactivating core muscles usually means posture and spine angle will be negatively affecting during our backswing. This causes our lower body to shift positioning during the downswing, throwing off crucial sequencing throughout the motion of the entire golf swing.
Players can still extend out their tail bone without over arching their backs by hinging their hips and maintaining proper stability in their spine angle. This position will require a decent amount of core strength in order to properly stabilize the spine angle.
Having too much arch in the lower back during address will almost always cause a player to adopt an S Posture, which can completely alter the shot or even injure the player post swing.
