A Golf Coach JC How To Guide…. How to perform the fantastic Peter Cowen Towel Drill at home with a household towel to engage your shoulders arms and hangs correctly.
Performing this exercise will enable you to spiral your body and do less with the smaller muscles to reach a perfect spot at the top of your backswing.
Note; this is a series of videos relating to a question I received on Instagram, relating to an interview with Sky Sports Peter Cowen had last year talking us through Brooks Koepka and Gary Woodlands golf swings. The question was how to load the shoulders. As you will see in the series the answer starts with muscle structure, building a 3 dimension golf swing to feed and train your body the correct movements ingraining the correct signalling to perform the perfect motion or pattern again and again.
This exercise is awesome. Hold the towel with an equal and opposite grip and by this i mean to have your left thumb squeezing the towel to the right and the right thumb squeezing the towel to the left. This will automatically engage your arms up into your shoulders. How many of you had to rotate your right elbow down to do that? Caught you!! So many golfers prepare their right hands to rip the club away with their elbows in an inefficient manner.
Engaging the hands, arms and shoulders correctly enables you to let your arms hang, considering you are in good posture and feel the coil or 3 dimensional motion move the club into perfect positions in an effortless manner.
Feel the towel move to create noise and power early in the downswing accelerating though impact into the relaxed finish. This will increase the leverage you create in your swing and therefore power.
