We believe the swings of all elite hitters can be reduced down to four, very simple foundational principles. In defining these principles, we can penetrate the surface level styles of the swing that often times get in the way of quality instruction. We’ve classified these aspects of the swing as the Four Pillars. Elite hitters, regardless of their styles, all share the principles of the Four Pillars without exception. It is within each pillar that live the different styles of hitters. To differentiate style from truth, we’ve classified the common traits within each pillar as absolutes.

In the fourth and final episode of the Pillars Hitting Program we discuss the bat path and finishing the swing. We talk about finishing the swing with a choke style finish where we are not rolling the hand through the ball but working through extension with our arms and hands. The lower half of our body can be a traditional turn style finish or a scissor style finish.
