Q.
The player has played a stroke at their ball that is lying in a No Play Zone – Abnormal Course Condition. What is the result?
.
.
A.
The player incurs a general penalty for playing from a wrong place. The stroke counts and the player must continue to play the ball as it lies now, unless this was considered a serious breach, then the player must correct their mistake in order to complete the hole. That would entail taking the free relief from the No Play Zone, by dropping a ball in the relief area. The initial stroke would not count, but the general penalty would. Therefore, if it were match play, the player would incur the loss of hole and they couldn’t correct their mistake.
