Hey everybody Terry here with the swing in the Spring 2015 golf series and in this video will talk about the golf swing Takeaway.

Before I get into the golf swing takeaway I am going to review the grip and posture video from last week. It’s very important that we understand that the grip of the posture that makes the golf swing.

So in review grip the Club handle in your left hand and grip it at the base of your fingers in your left-hand under the padding of your left thumb and rest the left thumb at about a 1 o’clock position on top the club handle. You take the right-hand grip underneath the club at the base of the fingers where the club handle is resting below your padding on your right hand as well as the padding on your left-hand under the thumb. From this point you turn your wrist to the left where the V of your right hand is pointing toward your right shoulder. This is a neutral grip in golf and at this point the club head of your golf club it’s close. We square the club head I placing me Club head on the ground and tilting the club shaft forward. At this point we are now working with the natural offset of your golf club to hits solid golf shots.

On the golf swing takeaway there’s an angle that measures 144° between your forearms and the club shaft. When we come off the ball this angle has to stay in tact. If we take the club away too fast, to the inside or too far outside the 144° angle Will be compromised and bad shots will follow. A swing thought that we can relate to golf swing Takeaway is the fact that our club head weighs 300 pounds and to perform a one piece take away we have to use out shoulders because there would be no way we could snatch the club back with our arms and hands. So what this promotes is the one piece Takeaway triangle that we have to keep intact into we get two parallel on our backswing with The club shaft.

There was a question last week about to wrist cock. At address the left wrist is slightly cupped however once the club goes back to parallel and begins to go up to the top of your backswing that left wrist will automatically become flat it’s not something you have to think about. Another point that we have to think about is when we’re over the ball on the golf swing takeaway we can’t just snatch the club away too quickly. The average golfer thinks that if we can swing the club fast from beginning to end that there will be power in the golf swing, however there’s only a certain point in the golf swing where you can swing as hard as you like and we will get into that more on the downswing in slot position videos. So remember take the club back using your shoulders promotes silent arms hands and wrists for you to set the club on the golf swing takeaway and the backswing.

So to sum up the golf swing Takeaway I am going to perform a few golf swings and as you can see I am employing the swing principles that I have taught and it works notice the one piece Takeaway keeping the triangle intact and making sure that everything stays balanced..
