Coaching and structuring training sessions is everything but easy and a lot of things have to taken in consideration when you plan a training. In my experience there are 5 big traps, especially younger coaches or players that make their own training step into in the beginning, and that stop them from real improvement in games sports.
Overview:
0:00 Intro
0:47 Having no clear goal
2:22 Hard doesn’t mean good
3:38 Practice in a fixed environment
5:26 Wrong order of Exercises
6:35 Aiming for quick success

—Additional Info—————————————————————————————
Mistake #1:
The model with Why, How and What is not only useful in sports but in any aspect of live, as a clear sense of Why is essential of reaching any goal. The model got famous through the book “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek, an absolut must read in my eyes that i can warmly recommend to everybody. Here you can find the book: *
Mistake #2:
Please don’t judge a training by its intensity. Again ask yourself first what the main goal of todays session is and the rest will follow. Everybody can make a training hard!
Mistake #3:
A few weeks ago I just made a video on how you can avoid to train in a fixed environment when it comes to technical skills. Here you can find the video about it:
Mistake #4:
In addition to the order i present in the video there is one big exception you will maybe see in some trainings of pro players: They do some easy technical training in the end of the session. Sometimes there is some time left in the end but no energy in the legs so getting a few more repetitions in a certain shot can be away of making good use of that time. Also more about that in the video about technical training i mentioned under #3.
Mistake #5:
A big foundation in terms of motorskills and coordinative skills is extremly important in open game sports, as a lot of studies and reseraches has shown. Here you can find the abstract about the german soccer team i talk about: and here an interssting article about the french squad:
If you want to learn more about that topic I can just recommend you the book: “Range – why generalists triumph in a specialized word”, it will probably give you a completly new view on specialication in any given field: *
