The feel of your favorite putter may not be coming only from its swingweight. If you are using a face-balanced or toe-balanced putter, you are also feeling the torque of these putter designs. Torque is sensed as weight.
A putter may have a D6 swingweight when measured on a static scale but when the putter is put into motion, the sensation of weight is increased by gravity pulling on the center of gravity in the putter. Since a golfer senses the torque, or opening of the face, as weight, a D6 putter feels heavier when put into motion.
Axis1 putters do not create torque when put into motion, so a golfer will not sense the added feeling of weight resulting in a lighter feel at first. Without torque, a golfer can use lighter grip pressure for increased feel for distance control.
Another benefit of the no torque Axis1 designs is that the face does not want to rotate open during a stroke. Putting becomes less complicated when a golfer doesn’t need to compensate for face opening during a stroke.
All Axis1 putters are patented to have the center of gravity located in the center of the striking face.
