The golf grip is where the whole swing starts. This tip is a warning about what you will naturally want to do when you place your hands on the club. If you do this wrong you will not have a neutral grip. Instead your grip will be too strong.
A strong grip will not allow you to have loose wrists as you swing the club and hit straight shots. Instead you will hook the ball. Not liking the hooks you will tighten your wrists to straighten out your shots. In doing so, you will lose power and consistency.
Hopefully, you have been working on the neutral grip. This is vital if you want to develop a powerful, effortless, pain-free golf swing. If you haven’t seen my other grip tips make sure you check them out then remember this one because you will find yourself wanting to go back to the strong grip into the future.
Learning the neutral grip takes time, focus and understanding. It will feel uncomfortable at first but the payoff is well worth it. So keep working on it no matter how bad you hit the ball at first. It all starts with the grip.
