I wanted to see how running on a steep downhill would work. The slope is about 25 degrees. I had lots of traction. I only did about a half mile because the snow ended and I don’t enjoy the sharp rocks on that trail.
I’m constantly reminded that the feet are as miraculous as other body parts such as the brain, genitals, and hands. You’ve got hands to interface with things like food and tools. You’ve got lungs to interface with air. You’ve got feet to interface with Earth. I marvel at how feet are so capable of things that are easy to take for granted. To me, shoes on the feet are like wearing mittens on the hands. Wouldn’t it be an unfortunate thing if we only took those mittens off when we went to bed or to sleep? It is unfortunate that most people think of feet as ugly.
