Dustin Johnson, the world’s top-ranked player, capped a dominant week at Augusta National Golf Club by winning his first Masters title and second major championship overall. Johnson finished with the lowest overall score in tournament history, 20 under par, and beat Cameron Smith and Sungjae Im by five strokes. The previous Masters record was 18 under, shared by Tiger Woods (in 1997) and Jordan Spieth (2015).
Johnson overcame a history of painful Sundays at majors, where he had failed to win the previous four times he led entering the final round.
The Masters, held without fans this year, pushed to November amid the coronavirus pandemic.
