When Kirkland Signature golf balls hit the market (then were soon sold out), we knew we had to get our hands on them at USGolfTV. New equipment isn’t always our thing, but when a $15.00/dozen premium ball barges it’s way into Election season, we take note. Our ears perk.

They couldn’t be as good as everyone said, could they?

Our team spent some frosty Midwest mornings in November testing them on the Flightscope, and the numbers we got back were startling. Extensive testing during the onset of winter may not always sound like a wonderful idea, but we were committed.

We saw when the ball’s release was announced, a buzz made it’s way across social media. A few people reached out to the @USGolfTV Twitter tag, asking for information. The always reliable group over at MyGolfSpy announced that they too, were going to do some extensive testing. So we were excited to get them on the launch monitor!

Our Process

We took this golf ball and wanted to test it in three phases: driving, irons, and wedges. With winter upon us in the Midwest, we weren’t able to get out as a team and play the ball on the golf course, but through testing were eager to see what we would find.

[NOTE: People we know played the ball—and endured the cold. Reports on playability were representative of the reporting analysis below.]

To make sure that we got accurate numbers, we did the following:

We hit 5 balls each with the driver (Titleist 910 D2 with a stiff shaft)
5 with the Kirkland Signature
5 with the ProV1x
We hit 10 balls each with the irons (Ap2 7-iron)
10 with the Kirkland Signature
10 with the ProV1x
We hit 10 balls each with wedges (54-degree Vokey SM6)
10 with the Kirkland Signature
10 with the ProV1x
We (attempted) to throw out any shots that had misreadings, were poorly hit, or had some oddity to the performance. All of the shots used were fairly optimal strikes.
