In this continuing series on how to play your way around any golf course, I am looking at Hole #8 at Belmont Country Club, a long Par 3 that has an uphill tee shot with swirling wind. Pure impact, a sound strategy and doing our homework is essential to score birdie or better on this hole.

As we are starting the golf lesson instructions we get a visit from Mr. Squirrel, maybe the same one that was on the tee at the Travelers in 2018 before Rory McIlroy got to hit his tee shot??

In this golf instruction video I focus on an uphill Par 3 that has swirling wind and how that affects your club selection into the green. To get on the green on this Par 3, we need to be aware of the surrounding wind and find out by looking at the tree tops to see if the wind is blowing and if so, from where and how this factor will affect our shot so that we have the best way to the hole to score birdie or better.

There are a few keys you must know in order to be able to play better golf, hit these uphill into swirling wind shots with consistency and confidence and don’t forget to club up. Doing your homework on the golf course is vital and the thing to do before you step onto any new golf course.
