Nutsedge and kyllinga are troublesome, difficult-to-control weeds often found in managed turf. Spread of these weeds to new regions and the identification of herbicide resistance are recent developments worth noting. In this 60-minute webinar, presented by PBI Gordon, Aaron Patton, Ph.D., describes the life cycle and identification of these sedge and kyllinga species and recommends cultural and chemical management options in cool- and warm-season turf for professional turf managers.
About the Instructor
Aaron J. Patton, Ph.D., is a professor in the department of horticulture and landscape architecture at Purdue University where he serves as turfgrass extension specialist. He earned his bachelor’s from Iowa State University and his master’s and Ph.D. from Purdue University. His appointment provides him the opportunity to be involved with extension, teaching and research. Patton’s research interests focus on weed biology and control, warm-season grasses and agronomic practices in turfgrass systems. He has been a GCSAA faculty member since 2008, teaching numbers seminars and webinars.
