I’m not selling anything. Buy something from the Throw Shop if you must! 😘
We’ve invented a really, really good, cheap tee pad, the Pirate Plank. I have installed 28 on my private course, the BRATS Red White and Blue, and am attempting to damage them by doing things like running ov er them with my tractor. No go. These are the real deal. Other configurations of these, like to get longer pads, can also work well. I’m going for really easy right now.
Items (any store like Lowes or Home Depot has all of these pieces)
1 4×8′ 3/4″ piece treated plywood, ~$35
1 4×8 .33″ piece cement fiber board exterior paneling, ~$35
Several 1 1/4″ screws with heads that will go level with the cement fiber surface
On my course, we have done no ground preparation, operating on the principle of least work and also to experiment.
Process
Place the plywood at your tee location and then precisely line the cement fiber board with it. Don’t let the edges of the fiber board stick out over the plywood.
Use as many screws as you want on the Pirate Plank, I am just using four, one in each corner, as part of this experiment.
Be careful with the cement fiber board. It is easy to break while handling. I had one break in half due to my mishandling. I just placed it on the plywood anyway n used eight screws instead of four. It is fine.
Good luck! build more courses!
