While chipping takes both technique and touch, you can train the strength you need to chip properly by taking a grip and placing your right hand over top of your left. This is going to help you control both the pace and the speed of the club.
As you get more comfortable hitting those solidly, try hitting shots different distances and try using different clubs because they all have their own specific weights.
