Cobe Life on the course

Worst Par of the season at Winchester Golf club

In this episode of Cobe Life on the course I demonstrate how quickly a great situation on the golf course can turn bad if you allow yourself to relax, and lose focus. I talk about focus, and confidence a lot in golf. Usually the tips I provide are about maintaining your focus during trying times on the course. How to recover from a particularly bad Tee shot for example. The same rules apply when things go exceptionally well. In some cases it’s harder to keep your focus on the course when your confidence is high. That’s one of the reasons so many potentially great Rounds get ruined in the last few holes. When you are playing great, and your score is relatively low. Your goal can shift from continuing to score well on each and every hole, to just getting to the finish line with a good Round in the books. Your focus shifts from being in the present to looking towards the future. That’s never a good thing in golf.

What this video shows you is that the same lack of focus can occur on a smaller scale while playing a Hole. A fantastic Tee shot already has me expecting to make a Birdie on a Par 4 before I’ve hit the second shot. As a result I take the second shot too lightly, and make what should have been an easy Birdie far more difficult. It isn’t easy to do, but while you are on the course try to never think ahead. Unless it’s to plan your strategy for each Hole on the Tee box before you take your first shot.
