In my prior video I show 20 minutes of me putting, and I talk about the issue of the Yips I get where my shoulder muscles stutter as I’m putting, and the putter ends up short. In this video I show just the Yips, to make it easier for people to see the issue, rather than watch 20 minutes of me putting and talking.

Troubleshooting My Disc Golf Yips:

The Yips I experience the most, is when I’m throwing straight at the basket, but as I’m going through the putting motion, my shoulder muscles of my throwing arm start to shudder, and the disc comes out low.

Not every putt that is short of the basket does this, but some do, and I’m trying to determine if the stutters cause the issue, or if they are a sign of my under throwing, and my body recognizes this, and tries to correct mid-release.

Sometimes the stutter occurs and I still throw the disc into the basket. But more often than not, I experience the stutter and my disc ends up short.

It’s hard to explain, but it’s essentially like trying to throw or putt, and during the motion the body says “hey wait, slow down” and the putt (especially) comes up short. It’s as if the shoulder and arm (in my case) feel as if I’m throwing too hard, and they automatically compensate.

The reason I call it a stutter or jitter is because I feel a vibration in my shoulder and I can almost hear it. This results in a consistent “disc hitting the basket, pole, or base.” In a throw it results in early release, but this is rare for me. It’s almost exclusively putting.

I can do the exact same motion and one of those times I experience this, and the disc comes up short. I am not deliberately trying to do anything different. It just occurs on it’s own. The only way I can increase the likelihood of this occurring is if I putt from farther away from the basket than 15 feet, and the farther back I go, the greater the chance it will occur.

To be honest, I’m not sure anyone watching this video will be able to spot anything I’m doing wrong, which causes it to occur. And I can’t tell what I’m doing to cause this to occur, but I wanted to give it a shot and post it here, in the event someone here has experienced the same thing, and has dealt with it successfully.
