Determining Hole Locations – Part 1 Determining Green Speed

It’s an important part of any professional tournament to know the speed of the greens. This is because it plays a big part of determining pin positions on the greens.
Too slow, and the players struggle adjusting from the week before, and the design of the course can be compromised.
Too fast, and the players take more time over more putts, which in turn slows down the pace of play.
Also the faster the greens, the less pin positions you will have over the four tournament days.

At the Open D’Italia, Jano is wanting the greens to be rolling around mid-11 foot.
