Q.
After a tee shot, Hunter Mahan’s ball comes to rest up a tree. What options does Hunter have if he can’t find it, and what options does Hunter have if he does identify it?
.
.
A.
If Hunter was unable to find his ball within the allotted time, his only option would be to go back to his last place played (in this case the teeing area).
If Hunter was able to find it (using binoculars or a range finder for this particular reason is permitted), then he would have the option of going back to his last place played, as well as going back on a line, and dropping within two club-lengths from the point on the ground directly where the ball currently is at rest.
