The Frear Park Golf Course is officially opening for the season.

Mayor Carmella Mantello spoke at the course on Friday morning alongside members of the Troy High School golf team.

The mayor hit the first drive of the season.

She said the year is starting off strong. The course was booked every nine minutes throughout the day on Friday.

Upgrades are planned for the course, including $6 million in changes happening over the next year.

“The playground right here is going to have a total overhaul, upgrade, ADA accessibility. North Lake Avenue, the playground up there is going to be all-inclusive,” said Mantello. “You’re going to see pickleball courts, tennis courts, the trails.”

There will also be new parking and public grills.

Mantello said there will be a neighborhood meeting on April 28 at the Frear Park Ice Rink for community members to voice their ideas.
