COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Wisconsin women’s golf team is in fifth after Day 1 of the Terps Invitational, playing two rounds on Sunday at the challenging University of Maryland Golf Course.
The Badgers had the third-best second round, going four-over and rising thee spots on the leaderboard. UW is +18, overall, led by Terrapin Tammy Wu at four-over. The redshirt junior transferred in from Maryland this offseason after spending her first three seasons training on this week’s golf course.
Junior Kate Brody is a shot behind Wu at +5, sitting in 24th-place. She has the fourth-most birdies in the field with six. Sophomore Izzi Stricker is in 36th off a second-round 73 (+1) that saw her climb 19 spots on the leaderboard. The Wisconsin native has the field’s third-best Par 3 average, going even on the holes throughout the day.
Grace Slocum and Alexia Siehl split the scoring for UW. Slocum is tied for 36th at +7, starting her day with a 73 (+1) where she yielded just one bogey. Siehl is in 63rd coming off of a second-round 73 (+1). Competing indvidually, true freshman Elyssa Abdullah is in 87th at +18.
