The Old Yadvindrian Association (OYA)-Mohali, won the Inter-Alumni Trophy during the 7th EVA Inter-Alumni Golf Tournament organised by the Ex-Vivekite Association (EVA). The EVA Cup was won by Angad Matharoo.
The OYA team comprising Maj RS Virk, Sukirat Singh and Vikram Bhagwan won the trophy, while the EVA team of Varun Rao, Avirat Sundra and Rabbiya Gill finished as runners-up. The Sector 16 Model School Alumni team featuring Justice Amit Rawal (retd), Deepak Bhardwaj and Navjot Mann claimed the third position.
In individual categories, Dilsher Grewal (SJOBA-St John’s Old Boys Association) won the Gross title with a score of 72, while MP Singh (AYOSA-YPS, Patiala) claimed the runner-up trophy with a score of 74. In the Double Peoria Stableford category, Rao Birender Singh (OSS-Old Sanawarian Society) secured the top position with 36 points (better back), followed by BS Gill (OC-Old Cottonian-Bishop Cotton School, Shimla), also with 36 points.
Manteg Veer Singh (OYA) was awarded for Longest Drive (311 yards), Col SDS Baath (SJOBA) for Nearest to the Pin and Aman Bhaika (OYA) for Straightest Drive.
The prestigious EVA Cup, contested exclusively among 25 EVA members from Vivek High School, was clinched by Matharoo with a gross score of 77 (decided on a better back nine). Karman Singh finished as runner-up with an identical score. In the Double Peoria format, Arnav Sundra emerged as winner with 37 points, followed by Navtaj Sujlana with 36 points.
In the Women’s Category, Mehar Dhillon (EVA) won with a score of 36, while Rabbiya Gill (EVA) finished runner-up with 34 points. Hanima Grewal (CESA-Carmel Convent) won the Longest Drive and Aashi Jain (CESA) secured Nearest to the Pin.
MP Manish Tewari, Punjab ADGP Naunihal Singh and others awarded the winners.
A total of 150 golfers representing 24 leading schools from across North India participated in the 18-hole events (Double Peoria format). A total of Rs 5 lakh was awarded to the winners. Teams like Vivek High School, St John’s High School, Guru Nanak Public School, DAV, Bishop Cotton School, OYA, PPS Nabha, St Kabir School, Bhavan Vidyalaya, St Stephen’s, Carmel Convent School, Manav Mangal School, Mayo College, Doon School, St Theresa’s, Sector 16 Model School, Hansraj Public School, St Anne’s, YPS Patiala, Springdale School, Strawberry Fields High School, The Lawrence School Sanawar and Modern School, Barakhamba Road, participated in the tournament.
