I play a lot of golf in San Diego, and a lot of the time I play weekday golf as a single. That means I get to play courses that are relatively quiet at the time and I have lots of time to poke around the sides of greens while waiting for the hole ahead to clear and while no one is pushing up behind me.
Sometimes I'll come home with a few dozen found balls. Every now and then I'll sort them out and keep the TP5's and ProV1's to give to friends or toss on FB Marketplace for beer money, and I'll donate the lower end stuff to local youth golf programs.
Last summer I decided I'd start to fill a 55 gallon drum I had in the garage and see how long it took. I just dumped yesterday's found balls in there and it looks like there's 4-6" of space left. Probably another couple hundred balls.
I guess I'll have to start sorting through them in the next month or two!

Thought this was going to be someone who lives on a golf course. That’s wild you have that many.
This is going to take so long to clean and sort. I recommend an “adult vitamin” and a good comedy movie.

Awesome! I have Lowe’s and Home Depot buckets full of choice balls found while rolling single, too. But a 55g drum is next level. And, Nalgene to boot? Impressive!
Could that fit an average sized human body? Asking for a friend.
I wonder what the pressure of all the balls would do to them ?? That’s some good leg work tho, I feel like I lost that many last time I was in town 💀

I knew a family that owned a golf course, and they used an old washing machine to clean golf balls. Very impressive haul! Not sure I’d like to clean them all by hand.
I have a friend that had 2 large garbage cans full.
My son is a grounds keeper at a golf course. He’ll never half to buy balls in his lifetime.

These are the times when I would love to have one of those ball cleaners that they have on courses
One double bagged grocery sack full of balls is roughly 300$ if you average it all out. Bro is seriously understating the amount of poking around he does, or he is seriously playing a lot of golf.
Because sometimes I’ll fill a sack on a 9 hole. And I consider it a bad course if I come home with less than a couple dozen 🤣
Shoulda done that on the course in real time! Coming back from the course with 50% keepers if ur lucky!

I golf with u/igetmywaterfrombeer on average, one 18 a week. My man here is a certified ball hound. His eyes see things that us mere mortals cannot. He feels them through his shoes! He can see a label through 2′ of water and knows where it’s a ProV1 or a Truefeel. He has that 55 gallon drum and I know for a fact he doesn’t keep the cheap stuff. Throws the Top Flites and Nitros to the side he does. I have to herd him to the next tee sometimes so others can hit into the green we just left. I’ll walk ahead of him and find three, he’ll show up at the next tee with seven. He is, THE BEST BALL HUNTING SON OF A GUN I HAVE EVER SHARED A TEE BOX WITH.

That’s a crazy haul! I’ll be spending a few days at Crystal Pier in PB in May and I plan to play Balboa (never played it). I’d buy some Prov1-X’s off yah if you need to lighten the mother load a bit.
