If by miracle you don’t lose your ball in the wood or dump it in the water, when do you retire a ball?
Do you retire after a certain number of round or use them until they fall apart?
11 rounds so far this year and still using the 3 balls I started with. No cracks, just some scuff marks.

When I can’t find/retrieve them. No sooner.
Golf balls retire me.
When scuffed.
I retire them Into the trees and ponds 😔
When they retire themselves in the water or trees
What does this even mean bro?
When they are sent to the watery halls of Poseiden.
Usually after 18 the clown just eats it
About 1-3 times a round
I’m not sure I’ve ever voluntarily retired a golf ball.
It’s usually a direct cart path hit that retires my balls
If it’s enough of a scuff that it’s abrasive to the touch I stop using the ball
Nunca, se jubilan ellas cuando las pierdo, que es lo habitual
If you were ever curious what a “humble brag” was, here you go.
Cartpath
Haha, I lose them before they have a chance at a career!
When they go to golf heaven (the deep deep trouble)…
Usually send them off to retirement in the woods well before they’re beyond playable 😂
After 20 years of service, they receive 3/4 pension and lifetime benefits or when it’s scuffed, what ever comes first.
About every two or three holes I grab a new one. Not by choice.
I play Kirklands and Pro V1. The Pro V1s just disappear into thin air. I will hit them 5 yards into the rough and you will never find them. The Kirklands I will always find even if I hit into the ocean. But they bruise easily so I am guessing at most 5 rounds before I drop them. Easy to drop one and use it for chipping when the balls are so cheap.
There never is a miracle, they always end up in a lake at some point.
LOL, ok bro. We believe you! Wink wink
Tell us you only play par 3 courses without telling us you only play par 3 courses
They retire themselves for me.
Any scratch or scuff
When they go for a swim.
I play it until it has a noticeable scratch or scuff and then I toss it in a bucket that I use for chipping and pitching
Show off.
I like to retire most of my brand new balls in the water, but far enough in that I can’t reach them with my ball retriever
Usually after about one or two hits. That’s when I lose them and get a new ball.
If I get to retire a ball it’s when I run my thumb over the surface and any scuff marks feel rough to the touch.
If they’re spinning at several thousand RPM that’s going to impact their flight and I’m quite capable of slicing / hooking my shots without the ball adding to the problem.
I’ll start every round with a new golf ball.
They usually retire themselves … 😆
If it has visible damage (scuff, cart path rash) I am definitely putting it down. Unless I’m playing like a$$ then I punish myself by playing with it.
Mine retire voluntarily by hurling themselves OOB.
In the words of Bruce Hornsby and The Range
“I can’t change my mind
I knew all the time that she’d go
But that’s a choice I made long ago”
Played 3 18s with the same ball once. Didn’t want to tempt fate, so I retired it (until I break that record with another ball)
I treat golf balls like the soviets treated soldiers in world war 2. No retreat. No surrender.
When I snap hook them 150 meters into the the bush!
Upon losing them.
when they end up in the water or the weeds.
Usually on the first hole
I usually lose 1 or 2 per round, so no need to ever retire a ball.
I let them choose when they want to leave.
I retire them when I shank a shot for the bushes or water. So often!
When they go in the water
They retire them self during play.
