STANFORD, Calif. (SMU) – SMU men’s golf advanced into sixth place during the final round of the Goodwin at Stanford Golf Course.
The Mustangs came into the day in 10th place after shooting rounds of five-under and six-over. They moved to even par for the tournament with a one-under final day. The team finished behind five top 35 teams and in front of eight top 50 programs.
Will Sides again led the Mustangs at the tournament. He shot seven-under across three rounds, ending the tournament with four-under 66. He finished in a tie for third up 10 spots during the final round. Sides eagled the par five 16th hole. He moved his season scoring average to a flat 70.00, tied for the best mark ever by a Mustang. His career scoring average sits 71.26, third best by a Mustang golfer.
Zachary Kingsland shot even par in the final round to move into 29th. He finished the tournament at even par after rounds of 69, 71 and 70. Christian Clark finished in a tie for 59th with a final round 71. He jumped out to three under for the day in his first seven holes.
Ben Steinmann finished in 78th. He also eagled the par five 16th hole. Gabe Post moved up 12 spots on the final day with a 72. He finished in a tie for 107th.
The Mustangs next hit the course for the ACC Championship on April 23-27. Panama City, Florida will play host to the five-day event.
