The sun shone on Toft Golf course as 18 women celebrated St Patrick’s Day by taking part in the Shamrock Stakes – an 18-hole stableford competition.

There was lots of green on show in what is traditionally the first trophy competition of the year.

The trophy and competition were generously supported by Mark Stark who provided refreshments at the end of the match alongside birthday girl Alison Ravenhill-Nicol.

With an unassailable 34 points, Cathy Lee was victorious on the day, three points ahead of Mairead Scott with Sally Burton coming in third on 30.

Angela Jenkinson won the nearest the pin on the third hole and Mairead Scott triumphed in the same competition on the 13th hole.

Paula Briggs won the medal competition after storming home with an excellent nett 72, five shots ahead of Alison Ravenhill-Nicol who beat lady captain Ann Broadbent on countback.

Linda Moss took her second medal title of the year after coming home with a nett 77 while Alison Ravenhill-Nicol was three shots behind with a nett 80 and Mairead Scott came in third place with a nett 82.

Karen Parsonage and Sandie Wilkin won their first round Daily Mail Foursomes match by two holes against a team from Greetham Valley Golf Club.

They play the next round at home against Luffenham Heath on April 1.

The 18 hole Winter Eclectic was won by Hayley Hunt with Cathy Lee in second place. Lisa Richardson won the nine-hole competition.
