I live in South Africa. I really consider myself a beginner. I dont know equipment at all. based on google, this drover is good for beginners. But is this level of gatekeeping normal in Golf? like do we not want new people picking up the game?

I played when I was 16 till 18. I had an old Spalding set back then that dont even show shaft weights. I dont know different shafts or weights. are we really going to be so hard on beginners?

She* typed that out and could have just said “yes it’s stiff” instead lol

Read enough comments on r/golf and you’ll see that many golfers fit the negative stereotypes they’ve been assigned throughout history. Take heart, there are friendly golfers out there too! Keep swinging friend 😊

Golf is one of those hobbies where you have the occasional maladjusted egomaniac sprung on you. Probably a tier below chess or trading card games, but maybe the highest ranking sport?

Absolutely not normal- but I guess just reflects life, there are idiots everywhere. And 6.0 equating to Stiff are very much about the brand, in some brands it is extra stiff. But either way, she lost a sale if it was me.

Unfortunately alot of golfers are pricks, i played a round yesterday and stumbled across this young man that was in in mid 20s at most, i said “hey buddy” as i walked past him on the practice green. He totally ignored me. So I said heyy how are ya today sir! He actually replied sorry i dont talk to non members. I replied mother fucker i am a member here, and have been since your mommy was wiping your ass. Proof that we are both pricks! 🤣

No, this is just called being a cunt for no reason.

I wonder if she’s even real tbh. Checked the page. Seems kinda sketch idk tho.

Mariette is trying to flip the driver for drugs and you are holding her up!

I’d have replied something like “I’m sorry you’re having a bad day, I’ll leave it – thanks”

People need to self reflect sometimes and not pass their negativity onto others – no need.

Next time just reply “if your husband only plays a 6s and not a 7x that’s not your husband, that’s your wife”

Make sure to leave a bad report on Facebook marketplace for this rude seller.

  12. gregaustex

Too much response. “Oh fuck off” would have sufficed.

  13. 14Thierry

Correct, we do not want new people picking up the game. In fact, we want people to quit the game

  14. FrankieBeanSniffer

You shoulda said “I’ll give you a stiff 6”

  15. Finnegan_Murphy

Let’s normalize not saying “sorry” to people when they’re assholes for no reason. “That wasn’t necessary, and now I’m not interested.”

  16. “I don’t know everything about shafts…” 💀

  17. ElephantElmer

Why post it if you don’t want any to sell it?

  18. Separate-Nectarine29

That is a wild thing to say, then she goes and blocks you so you can’t reply, nah I’d MAKE SURE I get the last laugh. Fuck all that 😭

  19. Clear-Excitement1744

Just use 2nd swing. Fuck this person.

  20. buster_rhino

Is that even a standard scale of stiffness? Played golf my whole life and only ever seen shafts rated regular, stiff, etc.

  21. Appropriate_Front792

    Jerkkeping actually.

Some people are just a holes

These are the types of people you need to agree to buy it and then pick a weird meetup location and never arrive. When they start messaging you where are you just keep telling them you’re almost there and only 5-10 minutes away.

This baffles me because swing speed is a terrible indicator of skill anyway; I suck but just so happen to be 6’3” and capable of moving a club head faster than some. I’m pretty sure the shaft in my driver is extra stiff but I play my clubs for years and I don’t really remember what the fitter thought was best for me.

  24. YeshuaSnow

I’ve been playing regularly since 1998 and am a 9 handicap. I have no idea what 6.0 means. Not a gearhead, I guess. You’re fine

  25. AdSure8431

I once sold a club on eBay and in the listing forgot to give the length. Some guy emailed me and said, “You failed to give the length, which shows you do not play golf. If you don’t play golf, how did you get this club?” as if I’d stolen a five year old hybrid I was now selling for twenty bucks. Asshole.

  26. pureshortirons

You could respond with something to the effect of “Tsi1 with a 6.0? Now who shouldn’t be playing golf?” Just for fun of course….

She’s probably in here. Some absolute psychos lurk around here
