For my birthday this year (I’m a ripe 63) my wife got me the Callaway Edge set from Costco. Got them today and they look nice. As the wise Immortant Joe would say, “Shiny and Chrome”. I’ll be taking them out on the course in a couple of days and I’ll update with how we did. I’m not expecting immediate overwhelming success, but if they hit straighter in general, I’ll be delighted. I know the driver has a tendency to crack the face after a few rounds, so I’ll be watching that. I told my wife the Odyssey putter alone will shave off 10 strokes from my game. I’ve never had a brand new set (always yard sales or Facebook Marketplace used ones) so looking forward to it.

Happy birthday! This set is pretty damned good for a boxed set. I bought this set 2 years ago after playing with hand me downs for far too long and the game was much more enjoyable. They may be basic but they’re not bad. You’ll want a gap wedge sooner rather than later though. There’s a big difference between the pitch and sand. Hope you like em!

Happy birthday. Love this set. Just a tip: my driver head snapped off at the driving range 2 months after purchase. The driver is only sold as part of this set. Called Callaway and they sent me a Big Bertha instead.
This is the first set I started playing with! They’re a solid beginner set for a reasonable price, only a couple comments/advice for this set.
There’s a degree missing between the pitching and sand wedge. Theres like a 8-10 degree gap there and you need a club in between. For me the SW goes about 90 and the P wedge goes about 115. I needed a 100 yard club.
Also, The putter in that set doesn’t have near enough weight on it, would suggest upgrading at putter asap.
So I’ve been reminded by my wife that I did, in fact, have a new set 30 years ago (she remembers these things). But if it hasn’t happened in that long, I don’t count it
