Outraged Americans who oppose a possible war in Iran are calling on members of the Trump family to be drafted for war, including one of his granddaughters, Kai Trump. However, even if the family agreed to send their younger members, traditional rules and laws regarding military conscription might prevent her from serving.
Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and granddaughter of President Donald Trump, could not be drafted into the U.S. military right now, even if a major war like “WW3” happened, because of one major rule.
For one, the U.S. draft only applies to men. Women are not required to register and cannot be drafted under current law, making Kai ineligible for conscription. However, women are currently allowed to serve in the military.

Ultimately, the rules and regulations around military conscription could change. However, that would require Congress to change the laws. In previous years, lawmakers have suggested amending legislation by requiring women to register for Selective Service, or eliminating the draft entirely.
Calls for Kai to serve in the military intensified after she posted a “tone-deaf” YouTube vlog on Sunday, in which she took her 1.45 million followers inside Erewhon, an upscale grocery store in Los Angeles, while visiting California.

“If you guys don’t know Erewhon, Erewhon is the most expensive grocery store pretty much out there,” Kai began. “Everything’s crazy expensive, so we’re going to get my favorite stuff, even supplements, whatever it may be, and then we’re going to go home and try it out.”
The influencer then joked about “going bankrupt” while loading her cart at the upscale supermarket, angering several viewers online. During the video, the 18-year-old sampled a Hailey Bieber-inspired smoothie that cost a staggering $22, and purchased an Erewhon brand sweatshirt for $128.
“I’m like about to go bankrupt with this stuff. I’m gonna have to file for bankruptcy,” the content creator laughed after casually dropping $233. Fans immediately called her out for being “tone deaf,” especially as she labeled the video, “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon.”
“Title might be the most tone deaf thing I’ve ever read. Like legit,” one person commented on YouTube, while another wrote, “thanks for showing us the grocery store none of us will ever shop at.”
On X, another person said, “I have to believe she’s rage baiting,” before labeling the segment “disgusting” and “scene-causing.” Another commenter added, “She’s been rich all her life. She doesn’t know anything outside of disgusting wealth.”
Others claimed that Kai needed a reality check by getting drafted into the military. One person wrote, “I wish you would get f—-g drafted,” while another joked, “time to enlist, girly.”

Barron Trump could also dodge a potential draft
Interestingly, Kai would not be the only member of her family to hypothetically avoid serving in a war in the Middle East.
Barron Trump, the president’s youngest son, could have a military medical exemption to disqualify the teenager from military service.
Barron stands at a staggering 6’9’’ tall, meaning he may be too tall for the Army, particularly for specific roles involving restricted space like armored vehicles, tanks, or aircraft. Generally, height limits (e.g., 80 inches/6’8″ in the US Army) are enforced to ensure safety and fit within equipment.
A history of dodging a draft runs in the Trump family
President Trump himself has previously successfully dodged a draft after being falsely diagnosed with bone spurs.
Dr. Larry Braunstein, a podiatrist who worked in Queens and died in 2007, diagnosed President Trump with bone spurs as a favor to his father, Fred Trump, in order to help him avoid the military draft during the Vietnam War.
Dr. Elysa Braunstein and Sharon Kessel, the daughters of the late doctor, told the New York Times that he would often retell the story. “It was family lore,” Elysa Braunstein told the Times, adding that the story was “something we would always discuss” among family and friends.

Dr. Braunstein rented his office in Jamaica, Queens, from Fred Trump in the 1960s, according to records obtained by the Times.
His two daughters told the publication that their father provided the diagnosis of bone spurs as a courtesy to the elder Trump.
“I know it was a favor,” Elysa Braunstein told the Times, who added that the “small favor” got her father “access” to Fred Trump.
Before this medical exemption, Trump had deferred military service four times while pursuing his studies.
During a 2016 interview with The Times, Trump stated that a doctor “gave me a letter – a very strong letter – on the heels” to present to draft authorities. However, in the same interview, Trump was unable to remember the physician’s name.
Heel spurs are bony growths resulting from calcium deposits on the heel bone. The condition can be treated through stretching exercises, orthotics, or surgical intervention. The president confirmed that he had never undergone surgery for this ailment.
