Hi – let a man dream!! I would like to put a simulator in my garage. I have an automatic garage opener that has the control at about 8.5ft. I’m wondering whether the wooden planks (highlighted in red) holding up the garage opener is structural (ie. Can’t be moved) or something that was built to install the garage opener. The other half of my garage (highlighted yellow) looks structural and difficult to open up (raise) for 10ft ceiling.

If my garage ceiling is capped at 8ft – what other options do I have for a simulator? Perhaps I can stand outside my garage and hit into an 8ft tall simulator bay?? That way my backswing won’t hit anything? But that seems lame…any ideas or thoughts on how Incan make my dream a reality?

  1. Hard to say from the one picture but to me that looks like a storage shelf someone added and does not look structural to me. There is probably a better sub to ask that in though.

Im not an engineer but in pic 1 that does not look structurally necessary. You could have your opener side mounted and probably have quite a bit of space.
