For some reason, all these videos are being suggested to replace a 3 wood with a mini driver.

I bought my TM Qi10 3 wood a couple of years ago, and don’t have the confidence off the tee to be a fairway finder like it should be. Any experience with these so-called mini drivers?

BTW – wife didn’t get the reference

Why go with a mini when 460 cc is allowed?

I have a 3W and a Minnie and they do give me similar distances the thing is that in my case if I hit Minnie from the tee it will get crazy high because of the loft (12 degrees), thing that doesnt happen with the 3W even it has higher loft. When hitting it from the deck I dont get as much distance as the 3W I loose about 10 yards but Im still working on that shot

Learn to hit your driver a mini isn’t a fix and it’s a waste unless you only play one course always and forever and your driver is just to big for the course.. 3w is a fairway finder tee it lower or don’t tee it at all then .. the lower the tee the less chance you have of finding trouble in the first place same with driver.
If I’m not swinging good I tee that bastard a hair off the deck and I’ll drop kick it if I have to

  5. Marketing. Mini driver was all the rage 10-12 years ago. Then it went away and now it’s back.

hahahahaha, this took me a second to get. Well done.

Get back to me in a week, my R7 Quad is on the way. Seems like everybody has a middle excuse where it would work for them and it’s to fill in some glaring deficiency.

I’m looking for it as my 3w off the tee replacement as I’m not great with it off the deck and prefer a 7W instead and/or something to fall back on when my driver doesn’t have it going (which isn’t uncommon).

I’d play the mini off the grass or rough!

    It’s a two wood! It’s called a two wood.

No, you probably couldn’t handle one of those… lol

3Ws are pretty hard to hit consistently. I recently got fit for a Calloway apex 19* UW to fill that space in my bag and I really like it. My good 3W’s went 10ish metres longer but I happily trade that for more consistent distance and accuracy.

For reference I’m low 20s but quite keen and improving so did a couple of fit sessions and I’m now slowly upgrading my full bag.

I see mini drivers as an alternative to driver rather than 3W.

No use for a mini driver unless you swing over 110 and/or are mentally handicapped.

I’ve been thinking about it, but I’m not sure. I’m still using my trusty Titleist PT 15° 3 wood for 26 years. I’m thinking of retiring it, but we will see.

Only if it helps senior players get their balls up

  14. Mini driver is like a cheat code. My brother plays one and I got a chance to use it. Literaly cheat code I’m very close to buying one and replacing my good old 3 wood.

  15. I have one, it looks great but sounds like I’m strangling a cat

If you’re not confident with your 3 wood then no. Don’t get a mini driver. It’s harder to hit than a 3 wood.

If you’re like me and you hit your woods 100% better then your driver. Then the mini driver is the one for you.

Look into a lower lofted hybrid for a fairway finder

This type of low effort pun has no place in the esteemed pages of r/golf, begone with you, foul beast, lest my 2 iron find yout backside.

I bought my mini drvr because I couldn’t hit my 3wd comfortably. Turns out, looks like my old 3wd has a cracked weld on the face, reason for the inconsistency.

I’m one that loves the mini, if you don’t like your 3wd. It hits a nice high draw that goes 240-250 consistently (my driver carry is 250-260). I can hit off the deck, just not as consistent as a confident 3wd about 230-240 (once when tee’d up in the rough and down wind I hit it 260-270 on a par 5).

I’ve since bought a Cally pre-owned 3wd that is fantastic, so don’t really need the mini-drvr anymore, but it’s great fun to hit. So now I will look over a course and see if I need more off the tee help or off the deck distance. If I need a fairway finder that’s 240-250, then mini, if I will need more off the deck, then 3wd.
