RIGHT TO SURVIVE

When The Right wakes up, it’s pure chaos.

This slab in Western Australia only breaks a handful of times each year, but when the conditions line up, it produces some of the biggest, thickest barrels on the planet.

On this day a storm sitting close to the south-west coast of WA sent thick, 25-foot walls of water straight into the reef that sits far out to sea. When that much ocean hits The Right, the wave turns dark, raw… almost evil.

So why would anyone want to ride it?

Because some surfers live for the challenge of taming the beast.

On this day, a few did but sometime paid the price.

Shot from water, land and sky, this edit shows just how unique and unforgiving this wave really is.

At The Right, every wave is a test.
Sometimes the surfers win.
Sometimes the ocean does.

This is RIGHT TO SURVIVE. 🌊 ENJOY

  1. That wave is so ugly and yet so beautiful at the same time. Excellent work Tim, always loving ya vids. 🤙

  2. Right to get seen by some lovely ladies while we're shredding the big ones…
Only problem is > 99% male viewers

  3. To think the pioneers them spongers paddled into that no skis no safety no YouTube. Loonatic legends! cyclops is even scarier and a lil more sharky. Great work n views as ever TB 🤙

  4. Sitting here watching this by myself just making all kinds of weird faces every time one of these…..things…. peak up and start to throw.

  5. Thanks a lot for taking the time to bring this wonderful place to the comfort of my home! Beautiful cinematography.

  6. It’s so cool to see this from a videography point of view. Never seen it from that point of view. Wish more filters would do this. Great stuff

  7. Excellent as always. Such a mutant slab out in the middle of nowhere. Hats off to those brave souls that try. Serious barrels and even more serious wipeouts.

  8. Drone shots really put in perspective how far and fast they're actually travelling once they let go of the rope. Channel shots make it look like its only a short 20 metre intense ride but its so much more. When you see the whip in, boils, and shelf go past they're flying across about 100metres of very scary water!

  9. As other peeps have said, we're loving the shot angle. It's lovely to see the wave against a backdrop

  10. Time, you capture not only the surf/surfers, but the environment all around. It really sets the tone to your edits. And the music selection always fits the mold. You da man!

That barrel @ approx 6:20, deep!

  11. I had no idea “ The Right “ was that close to shore. I always had the impression it was way out. Learn something new every day. Balls of steel stuff.
