    Meh. This has come up the past couple of years at the PGA too with the T-Mobile tee box activation.

    I’ve admittedly had the broadcast on in the background while I work, but the coverage has seemed pretty good and the commercial load hasn’t seemed oppressive. If this is the relatively minor price to be paid to get more golf shots on TV, so be it.

    To think that this is the “Peak” is naive. You see how much more real estate they have to advertise on? It’ll continue to get worse before it likely, never gets better.

    I’m surprised they haven’t done to golf courses what they’ve done to ice rinks for NHL games and plaster ads all around the playing surface like this.

    They can do more, they just haven’t. Hockey, especially minor leagues, have sponsors for everything from power plays and penalty kills to each period is sponsored, etc. PGATour, especially the radio broadcasts, could have each shot brought to you by a different sponsor. Imagine “here’s Scotty seeing off on the 14th tee, brought to by Ford.” Or “That’s a Lexus Sandy by Lowery at the 11th.” Or “Lets see that again on the Nationwide Insurance replay.” Ads could be like baseball and superimposed on the tees, fairways, stands, on every, single, swing.

    Likely the logistics of keeping all these sponsors and logos organized and timed properly mat be what’s preventing wider use.

  16. My father-in-law got me some kind of pirated streaming TV box for Christmas. I have no idea why and I’m not sure I ever told him I wanted denting like that. Nevertheless, it’s gets like 2000 channels from all over the world. The best part is I’ve started watching PGA Tour broadcasts on Sky Sports and it is SUCH an upgrade over the US broadcasts.
