Kai Trump, a college golf commit and the granddaughter of President Donald J. Trump, is taking a lot of heat on social media for what many are calling a “tone deaf” social media video.

The high school golfer and YouTuber has built up a big following on social media. Kai Trump has more than five million followers across her social media platforms. She is an active YouTuber, often sharing videos of her personal and athletic life.

Her latest video is being roasted, though.

Kai Trump, who committed to the University of Miami in 2024, posted a YouTube video titled: “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon.” In the video, Kai Trump shops at the ultra-expensive grocery store, shopping for things like $10 eggs, $20 strawberries and $165 sweatshirts.

The granddaughter of the President of the United States later renamed the video to: “I Tried the World’s Most Expensive Grocery Store.”

The video has more than 150,000 views in less than 24 hours.

“I visited Erewhon in Los Angeles for the first time! I checked out the viral smoothies and looked around the store to see what the hype is about. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more adventures and behind-the-scenes moments!” she wrote on her YouTube channel.

But some fans are finding issues with the “tone deaf” video.

After purchasing a $10 lemonade and $20 smoothie, Kai Trump was driven away in a Secret Service protection vehicle, where she later reviewed some of the items.

Fans sound off on Kai Trump’s latest video

Reviewing expensive grocery store items is nothing new in the YouTube world, but fans don’t love that the Secret Service was involved.

“The comments calling her out is giving me hope for the younger generations,” one wrote.

“10k likes 9k dislikes,” one added.

“Title might be the most tone deaf thing I’ve ever read. Like legit,” one fan added.

“Probably one of the most out of touch video titles ever,” another shared.

“I love that my taxes are funding this instead of school lunches,” another shared.

“Using your taxpayer money to fund secret service protection,” another shared.

It’ll be interesting to see if Kai Trump continues to vlog – and spark controversy – during her time at the University of Miami on the golf team.
